I’ve been getting a lot of emails about how my transition has been
going and if I have slapped a relaxer in yet. Last night, I tried a new
conditioner and shampoo called “FAST” although, I hate that it made my hair
feel all dry afterwards, but once I slapped in my Giovanni Direct Leave In I was
back on track. So, yes I am still transitioning and I am going on this long
journey to natural hair. Six months down and six more to go and I am excited
because I know time will fly by fast. I’m not even going to lie to you it gets
tough and I mean real tough. I thought about getting a relaxer and texturizer
several times. I even found myself in Wal-Mart staring at a relaxer debating
hard, but I kept my faith and walked away. It was challenging and I had to
think positive and remind myself that I have come this far and I lost all this
hair already I have to keep going. I know people first time transitioning
usually ends up with them getting a relaxer, but I couldn’t bring myself to do
it. I would prove all the haters and negative people in my ear right that I wouldn’t
be able to do it. I can’t bring myself to do that so I have to continue and
plus I like my curls. I haven’t really been doing any protective styling
because nothing seems to work my flexi rod set comes out horrible so I get
discourage from hairstyling so I just rock ponytails. I did do a braid out last
night and when I take them down I will definitely post pictures. I probably won’t
do another hair update until I reach nine months again to give you guys some
space on how my hair looks and it’s stage. Oh, did I mention by month five and
six detangling will be a kick in the ass. Well if I didn’t it will. I still
take the time to research and learn more. One girl asked me if I could make a
youtube channel once I become fully natural and my hair gets to where I need it
to be. I definitely will and I will keep you all posted on how this transition
is going.God Bless!!!!!!!!! J
5 MONTHS TRANSITIONING
5 MONTHS TRANSITIONING
As you can see in this photo my hair was blown straight. I went to the Dominican Salon the day before my birthday because I wanted straight hair and a nice trim. Well, for starters it was a disaster. Dominicans do not know how to manage natural hair while your transitioning. They talked about my hair in "spanish" like it was horrible. All it was was that my hair was tangled really bad and like I said before during months five and six detangling will be a kick in the ass. That's when detangling becomes a challenge. They charged me $45 for natural hair, which wasn't an issue because I already knew that's what it was going to cost. So I was already prepared. They didn't give me a roller set because they said my hair was too "thick" to get one. This is where shit gets real....The lady who blew my hair out bout near smoked my hair half to death. Pointer: When you detangle your hair detangle from the bottom up. You must work your way up to get the best results and less damaging. The lady detangle my hair from the roots down and was pulling my hair with this tiny little comb. I had to tell her to chill and it was hurting. She explained to that my hair is thick and that's the only reason why it hurts when she detangles. I watched big clumps of my hair fall to the floor and I bout near screamed. It was devastating. She tried to use a flat iron, but I immediately said no and got up out of my seat to pay and go. I was so scared that my natural curls wouldn't come back I didn't know what to do. Thank GOD they did. That was the worst experience ever. If you want to go to the salon while transitioning please don't go to the Dominican Salon they do not know how to do natural hair while transitioning, but I'm sure they can do fully natural hair. I guess it's the two textures. Well, that's my story and I hope you have a great day guys!!!!
